Nomination papers for Candidates for the French Language Public School Board Trustee must be filed in person at the Election Office, City of Kingston, 216 Ontario Street, Kingston between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday and on Friday, September 10, 2010 between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.. Please note only cash, certified cheque or money order will be accepted.
Nomination papers for Candidates for the French Language Catholic School Board Trustee must be filed in person with at the Election Office, Municipality of North Grenville, 285 County Road #44, Kemptville between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Friday, September 10, 2010 between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Please note only cash, certified cheque or money order will be accepted. Nominations for offices as set out above may be filed by candidates, or an agent, commencing Monday, January 4, 2010 through to Friday, September 10, 2010 at the Office of the City Clerk, City Hall, 1 King Street West, Brockville except for Trustees for French Language Catholic School Board or French Language Public School Board which must be filed with the appropriate lead municipality. Nomination papers filed in Brockville may be filed Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm and on September 10, 2010 between the hours of 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. At the time of filing, each candidate must pay the prescribed nomination fee ($200.00 for Head of Council and $100.00 for all other offices) by cash, certified cheque or money order payable to the City of Brockville. It is the responsibility of the candidate to determine whether he or she is qualified to be elected to and hold the office for which they are nominated. Persons wishing to seek elected municipal or school board should read the relevant legislation and regulations for qualification required for the office, e.g. the Municipal Act, 2001, the Education Act, and the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. Candidates are required to file a nomination prior to commencing campaign activities, including raising campaign funds and incurring campaign expenses. Key Dates Monday, January 4th - Nomination and Campaign Period commences Friday, September 10th - Nomination Day (9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) Monday, September 13th - Certification of nomination papers Monday, September 20th - Certificate of maximum Campaign Spending Limits issued to candidates Monday, October 25th - VOTING DAY Wednesday, December 1st - Term of Office commences Friday, December 31st - Campaign Period ends; Candidate to provide Clerk with Notification in writing (Form 6: Notice of Extension of Campaign Period) of Deficit and Continuation of Campaign Period. |
